Communications and Fundraising Director/Deputy Director Jan 18th 2013, 10:38 Location: Lagos Description: A non-governmental organization that seek to create a growing and sustainable sphere of influence by actively engaging social ills at their roots and by working with government, other NGOs, civil society organizations and corporate institutions to ensure the delivery of human security services at the greatest points of impact. Job Summary: To provide overall support for all fundraising, income-generating activities, as well as serve as the Deputy to the Executive Director. Responsibilities: Fundraising: Develop and coordinate a fund raising strategy to meet the funding requirements of the company's strategic plan  Develop, support and maintain a viable fundraising and marketing plan for the company and the programs. Build on existing working relationships to maximize income from current donor base; expand the current donor base by identifying new sources of funding support and by building and maintaining appropriate relationships with institutional and governmental donors, charitable trusts, foundations, corporate donors and individuals.  Responsibility for the managing the coordination of the volunteer database and the meaningful engagement of volunteers Consistently identify new fundraising opportunities for the company and programs; prospect for new donors - individuals, corporate etc. Identify, prepare and submit at least 2 grants each month. Prepare core development and fundraising documentation to address donor policies and procedures. Support program staff with drafting of grant and funding proposals and applications. Review and finalize funding proposals for submission to funders on the basis of activities elaborated with program staff. Prioritize fundraising efforts and co-ordinate submission of all grant and funding applications. Act as a focal point for enquiries regarding funding opportunities. Prepare and drive fundraising campaigns and events; ensuring they are well-organized, such that they can bring the company into contact with potential donors whilst  providing opportunities for keeping existing donors involved.  Monitor and review donor reports. Explore possibilities for income generation through new sources such as consultancy work or bidding for work via tender or consortia.  Develop community and team fundraising plans, including cash collections, volunteer fundraising, mailings and cold calling.  Communications Work with PR, marketing and brand professionals to establish a marketing campaign to reach out to donors using various media outlets with the goal of keeping donors informed and driving more traffic to our company.  Proactively identify and follow-up opportunities to promote the work of the company to selected target donor audiences through a range of channels for communications (this could include various media, events, networks, mailings and our website).  Take the lead with writing and production of relevant fundraising and marketing materials and update as necessary; prepare fundraising documents and other support materials, eg flyers, text messages, leaflets etc.  Deputy Director: Represent our company at various networking events  and make presentations where appropriate  Liaise with external parties supporting the company through sponsored events or other fundraising initiatives.. Compile and maintain the company case studies and other information for fundraising communications.
