Digital Content Editor Jan 26th 2013, 13:44 Location: Lagos Description: We are a leading digital and artist management company with an excellent growth track record and exciting plans for the future of their subsidiary company, is seeking a Digital Content Editor to join our fast growing, digital online and artist management company.  Job Summary: The Digital Content Editor is the digital journalist for our company. This position requires a person who possesses digital journalism skills to develop and deliver the news online in a compelling manner while also engaging readers and listeners across all social and digital platforms. In conjunction with our newsroom, producers, and other senior staff, this position is responsible for the creation, curation, editing, and implementation of daily news and information on our company and its related social media channels. This is a full-time position reporting to the news Director and Sales & Marketing Manager. Responsibilities: Work with senior staff to refine and implement strategy and vision for digital operations. Edit and produce front page and other content for naij.com to grow audience. Write and edit copy, write headlines and select/prioritize stories and packages for feature placement on our platform and social media platforms. Work with the News Director to assess content from a variety of sources to determine where and how it fits into daily coverage and user needs. Collaborate with our team of reporters and producers to translate broadcast pieces into online stories, and to create engaging multi-media content for news articles, information graphics, editorial projects and social media. Train and assist the company's staff in navigating Core Publisher, our CMS. Train and advise the company's staff on best practices and standards for content they're creating for the web. Work with locally produced shows on developing and delivering digital content. Develop and produce original content for our company using a mix of traditional and new media storytelling elements including audio, video, text, still photography, and slideshows. Provide weekly and monthly reports and analysis on web and social media traffic. Work with our company's staff to deliver featured content, encourage engagement and grow audiences via social media channels (Facebook and Twitter). Work with the company's newsroom to deliver breaking news online. Generate ideas and processes for supplemental web content. Work with IT department on streaming and other projects. Accept and deliver on digital assignments both in and out of the office. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or English, History, Literature, Communications (1st class or 2-1 applicants only) Two (2) years of digital content creation and web publishing experience in a broadcast or digital newsroom environment. Public media experience is preferred. Strong writing and copy editing skills with the ability to write for web audiences. Proven editorial judgment, with a commitment to standards of objectivity, balance and fairness. Proven grasp of digital trends and ability to grow digital audiences. Solid communication skills to both internal and external audiences. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment. Experience using image/audio/video editing software. Experience with social media platforms. Demonstrated data-driven judgment with promoting and featuring site content based on engagement, social behaviour and other traffic metrics. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. Demonstrated ability to take direction & work collaboratively with various personalities. Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on breaking news cycle is required.
