Job Summary: You will be expected to plan, research, develop logic, code, test and deploy several Web projects with minimal assistance. You should know how to build a PHP web application from the ground up, as well as modify and build on existing code. You should know C, PHP & mySQL like the back of your hand. The ideal candidate must display excellent written and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organization abilities. A candidate for this position must be able to work in a varied, fast paced environment. Flexibility and tolerance is a necessity. Candidate must be willing to relocate if required.
Responsibilities: - Work closely with members of the Development Team to develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Attend client meetings to establish a detailed program specification;
- Work with clients and Creative Director to build and refine graphic designs for websites. Must have strong skills in Photoshop, Fireworks, or equivalent application(s).
- Convert raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes.
- Determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations.
- Communicate to the Creative Director with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays.
- Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to clients.
- Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities.
- Develop new Web applications as identified by Creative Director and management through packaged and customized applications.
- Maintain and enhance existing Web applications and all internal systems are integrated.
- Perform complete testing of Web applications unit and system, engaging users as necessary.
- Conduct all user acceptances testing, and report results.
- Design and implement user-driven templates, databases and interfaces for ease of use.
- Develop database-driven Web interfaces for rapid, real-time information sharing.
- Develop external Web portals allowing users to input and retrieve accurate information.
- Must be a team player and willing to teach and to learn.
- Conducting testing and installing the program into production;
- Reacting to problems and correcting the program as necessary;
- Evaluating and increasing the program's effectiveness;
- Adapting the program to new requirements, as necessary;
- Conducting user acceptance testing to ensure the program can be used easily, quickly and accurately;
- Writing detailed documentation for the operation of the program by users and computer operators;
- Updating, repairing, modifying and developing existing software and generic applications.
Qualifications and Requirements: - B.Sc in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
- 3 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS
- 2 years minimum Web programming experience, including PHP, ASP or JSP/ HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, and JavaScript.
- 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle and a good working knowledge of SQL
- Advanced knowledge of UNIX operating system (primarily Linux) and Apache.
- Good understanding of PERL and CGI protocols
- Development experience using extensible web authoring tools
- Experience developing and implementing open source software projects
- Proficient in Internet related applications such as E-Mail clients, FTP clients and Web Browsers.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
- Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
- Respond proactively to training, technical support and customer service needs in line with provided guidelines.
- Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications.
- Ability to work additional hours as needed.
- Must be willing to relocate if required
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
