The Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, in affiliation with the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Directorate of Degree Programme hereby invites applications from candidates who have obtained the mandatory 2014 UTME cut-off point of 180 marks and above for admission into Bachelor of Technology in Education Degree Programmes of the University.

General Requirements
The Minimum entry requirement for admission into the B.Tech (Ed) Degree Programme is:

  • GCE 'O'/L, SSCE/NABTEB/NECO/WAEC or equivalent
  • Credit level pass in five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained at not more than two sittings.
  • Those with additional (Direct Entry) qualification such as: NCE, IJMB, ND, GCE 'A' Level or related equivalent are to proceed from Part II or Ill,

The University conducts aptitude tests and interviews as part of the screening exercise for all UTME candidates seeking admission into the University. Additionally, being an ICT-driven institution, prospective candidates must have the capacity to operate in an ICT Environment. Candidates who did not choose the University initially are eligible to apply and take part in the screening exercise.

Direct-Entry Programme
Holders of University degrees, HND, ND, NCE or Equivalent qualifications may proceed from Part H or III, depending on the rating of the overall grade. However, all candidates must procure JAMB Direct Entry Form.

  • Currently Data Centre Managed Services or Service Delivery Manager in the IT infrastructure or telecoms business in Nigeria.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience.
  • Leading a Managed Services team in a similar business.
  • Must possess demonstrable and measurable success in a similar role in a challenging environment.
  • Strong client focus - ability to operate at prime customer contact level typically at senior manager/director level
  • Demonstrates a breadth and depth of operational service delivery management expertise, preferably in an international environment
  • Demonstrable experience of having designed and implemented significant productivity as well as customer satisfaction improvements
  • Strong development focus - advocate of developing employees, teams and the business
  • Significant experience of leading and managing teams (including matrix management) within an operational service delivery or shared services environment
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, monitoring, co-ordination and budget ownership
  • Experience in outsourcing bids, from pre-sales to successful implementation, preferably including in an international setting

Responsibilities

  • The aim of the role is to monitor system conditions, documents any changes made to networks, constructs a procedural manual for handling network problems and maintaining network security.
  • Working as a member of a small team on a three shift basis
  • Monitor performance of customer services including production of performance reports, alarm analysis and fault resolution and liaison with customers and third parties.
  • Support Operations management in the commissioning, maintenance, expansion, upgrade and monitoring of the company's telecommunications equipment and fibre optic infrastructure including production of changereports.
  • Support Operations management in maintaining the integrity of the Company's Comms room ensuring security, power supplies, UPS, fire protection, suppression and air conditioning systems are maintained and operational.
  • Support Operations management with customer connection/expansion including network capacity checks, ensuring suitability of customer's CPE and installation, testing and commissioning of Ethernet, SDH and DWDM cards.
  • Support Operations management with the configuration, upgrade, maintenance and day to day management of the company's Communications Network Management and Element Management systems.
  • Provide out of hours standby cover to customers in fault situations on a rotational basis.
  • Fault handling and escalation (identifying and responding to faults on Company's systems and networks, liaising with 3rd party suppliers, handling escalation through to resolution).
  • Provisioning (IP assignment, core network configuration, DNS setup, monitoring and graphing for colocation, leased lines, customer backup and other customer network services).
  • Maintenance of technical documentation (for NOC) of processes and procedures used throughout normal operations.
  • Tier 3 Support for co-location, customer backup network and ISP services.
  • Participate in a 24x7x365 call-out rota required.
Requirements
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, telecommunications or equivalent.
  • 8+ years' experience in networking and hardware support and troubleshooting in a mission critical data centre environment
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • ITIL v3 Foundation Level Certification a plus
  • CCNA certification a plus
  • Strong commitment to high standards and quality service.
  • High level of integrity and ethical behaviour - sets a good example.
  • Good communication skills - oral, written, IT and presentation.
  • Highly motivated and performance orientated.
  • Committed to development of team talent. Hands-on, performance oriented, practical and pragmatic, with a proven ability to"get the job done".
  • Proven A1+ physical health is a must. Strong work ethic, endurance and ability to work long hours under challenging operating conditions.
