MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST/MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN/CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR (NURSING) / TECHNI CAL OFFICER/TECHNOLOGIST FOR THE FACULTIES OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY, BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES, CLINICAL SCIENCES, ENGINEERING, NURSING, PHARMACY AND SCIENCE RESPECTIVELY Qualifications for Professional Areas of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing 1.) Assistant Lecturer/Pharmacist  The first professional degree such as (i) MBBS, BDS (ii) B.Pharm. (iii) BNSc Nursing (iv) Professional registration in addition to (i) (iii) 2.) Lecturer II a) As in (i) above plus a minimum of three (3) years cognate teaching experience b) As in (i) above plus a Masters degree c) Pharm. D plus professional registration 3.) Lecturer I a) MBBS, plus possession of the final or part II of the relevant fellowship certificate. For Pharmacist, Masters degree and Pharm d. plus professional registration. b) Ph.D plus professional registration. 4.) Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor As in Lecturer I (a) and (b) above plus appropriate number of scholarly publications as evidence of good research ability plus three (3) years residency at each level. 5.) Senior Lecturer (as applicable to medical staff)  a.) MBBS plus possession of the final or Part II of the relevant fellowship certificate e.g. FNMC/Fellow of Nigeria or West African Medical College and preferably a Ph.D from a recognized university plus eight (8) foreign index journal articles of which six (6) must be in print. b.) Ph.D plus a registration with eight (8) foreign index journal articles out of which six (6) must be in print. Qualifications for Technologist/ Technician Cadre i.) Higher Technical Officer/Technologist II a.) B.Sc/HND/HNC with NYSC b.) Full Technological Certificate or its equivalent registerable with relevant professional body, 3 years residency. ii.) Senior Technical Officer/ Technologist I a.) As in (i) (a) above with 3 years working experience b.) As in (i) (b) above plus 6 years relevant experience iii.) Principal Technical Officer I/Principal Technologist a.) As in (i) (a) above, registered with appropriate body with 9 years post registration experience b.) As in (i) (b) above with 12 years relevant experience. iv.) Chief Technical Officer/Chief Technologist a.) As in (i) (a) above, registered with appropriate body with 15 years post registration experience b.) As in (i) (b) above, plus 18 years relevant experience v.) Laboratory Attendant a.) WASC/SSGE/NECO/GCE with 3 credits in Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology. b.) Basic Training Laboratory Certificate (BTLC) vi.) Laboratory Assistant a.) WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE with 5 credits, 3 of which must be Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology b.) Basic Training Laboratory Certificate (BTLC) lower credit. Qualifications for Medical Laboratory Scientist Cadre i.) Medical Laboratory Scientist a.) A good first degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), plus registration with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology of Nigeria (MLTN) plus NYSC. Qualifications for Medical Laboratory Technician Cadre i.) Higher Medical Laboratory Technician a.) Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology plus 3 years registration experience with the. Institute of Laboratory Technology of Nigeria Qualifications for Clinical Instructor (Nursing) i.) Clinical Instructor a.) NRN & RM with at least 2 years of General and Specialized Nursing experience OR b.) BNSc degree and NYSC plus Registration and 2 years post qualification experience. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE AND SALARY The Conditions of Service are comparable to those generally obtainable in institutions of higher learning in the country.
