Responsibilities

  • Provide on site technical direction on control systems, loop checks and system tests during startup, commissioning and maintenance on customer owned power generation and industrial facilities (Power generation includes customer owned utilities, marine drives, industrial power plants and nuclear power plants utilizing gas and steam turbines; Industrial facilities include power generation, marine, petrochemical, paper, steel, automotive and transportation industries)
  • Prepare job-planning documents that define the control system scope of the outage
  • Utilize problem solving skills, engineering instructions, drawings, and process instructions for Steam/Gas turbine commissioning and start-up.
  • Provide input for Daily Outage and Weekly Installation Reports.
  • Communicate effectively with Service Managers and Site Leaders on job planning and execution and with Resource Directors regarding site arrivals, departures and job progression
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites
  • Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
  • Possess technical capacity to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for a wide range of equipment/GE system vintages
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages
  • Troubleshoot control operations and maintenance problems in the steam and/or gas turbine technologies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Customer service mindset
  • Strong organizational and project management skills (1 year prior experience preferred)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel significantly with no geographical restrictions
  • Must have ability to perform night work as required to meet business needs
  • Must have a valid driver's license or ability to obtain one
  • 1 year, maximum, prior field engineering experience with Mark (IV-VI) Controls System is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Commodity Leader needs to demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for GE Africa. In this role you will use your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and affect short-term and long-term business goals across the Sub Sahara region.
  • Lead the indirect commodity strategy for a min of $5M in indirect spend in order to achieve deflation, cash flow, and controllership goals. Lead the supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier management, including managing the entire contract life cycle from Request for Proposal to supplier exit including:
  • Manage supplier contracts, supply agreements, and e-auctions with preferred suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance, and future business needs are aligned
  • Develop and execute long term global commodity strategies for a moderate group of suppliers, with varying levels of complexity
  • Develop competitive negotiations to drive deflation with the global supply base, while meeting capacity and quality requirements
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of new suppliers, development of existing suppliers, and overall supplier management
  • Define and drive use of preferred suppliers plus develop alternate sources to reduce single and sole sources
  • Interacts with site teams to understand business needs and develop supply chain strategies that optimize total requirements
  • Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, quality, global supply chain, and regional teams) to achieve plan, ensure adequate cycle time to procure material and services, and escalate critical materials from supplier base to meet customer demands
  • Develop technical and market expertise in commodity area
  • Create and enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with Sourcing
  • Closely monitor supplier performance to plan and work with the suppliers to manage any required recovery plans / actions
  • Hold regular reviews with suppliers
  • Conduct Capacity Audits; track any Red Flags that impede supplier performance and control revisions at Suppliers
  • Ensure any quality issues have the appropriate focus
  • Develop process to look upstream for pending requirements to ensure sourcing given adequate cycle to procure material
  • Proactively support GPB, SII, Session T and other strategic business planning.
  • Coordinate identification and standardization of process, equipment, training and skill requirements
  • Drive process and operational optimization at suppliers to meet fulfillment targets
  • Drive sourcing initiatives (fulfillment, cost productivity, lead times, capacity, digitization, quality)
  • Overall responsibility for buyers
  • Responsible for driving country level process improvements and simplification in partnership with the Strategic Initiatives team
  • Act as the single Sourcing point of contact for the assigned country/sub-region
  • Communicate at all levels of a matrix organization on implementation status
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 8 years in Global Supply Chain and or operational roles
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management experience
  • Knowledge of GE Oil & Gas, Power & Water products and services

T2T Conference & Career Fair For Youth Corpers 2014

T2T - On January 22, 2013, 250 Youth Corpers who are passionate about making a difference in Nigeria society will gather in Abuja's Yar'Adua Center for a 1-day leadership conference and career fair in Abuja called The T2T ("Transformed To Transform") Nigeria Conference. Are you a Youth Corper? Do you desire to be a part of Nigeria's transformation? Are you looking for a post-NYSC job? Then the T2T Conference & Career Fair might be for you!

Speakers at the conference will include: Obiageli Ezekwesili (Former VP, World Bank Africa), Dr. Chidi Odinkalu (Chair, National Human Rights Commission), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai (Former Minister of the FCT), Legendary Singer Onyeka Onwenu, and others from the private sector. There will also be a special video presentation from Mr. Fela Durotoye (CEO, Gemstone Group) at the conference.

During the Career Fair organized in collaboration with The World Economic Forum's Abuja Global Shapers, participants of the conference will get to network with employers from the public and private sector, and will have access to free skills training such as CV reviews and on-site interview training.
