Shift supervisors manage and coordinate shift personnel within the scope of overall plant commissioning and trial operation.
General, superordinate tasks and duties (within his or her own scope of responsibility):
- Ensure compliance with the environmental, fire protection and occupational health & safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with the data protection and information security requirements governing e.g. personnel data, design calculations, costings and proposals (bids).
- Ensure experience and information feedback (via e.g. CAPA).
- Maintain and update the List of Open Points (WeB LOP).
The main tasks and duties of shift supervisors are:
- Assuming charge of a shift to ensure proper plant operation as well as plant safety and reliability during that shift.
- Ensuring plant operation in accordance with the standard operating procedures and instructions that have been issued.
- Coordinating complex operations such as overall plant startup and shutdown.
- Implementing all measures necessary to prevent or minimize any malfunction during operation as well as to prevent any damage or consequential damage or adverse effects.
- Monitoring contractors to ensure observance of site rules & regulations and the permit-to-work procedure.
- Correcting operational malfunctions insofar as such malfunctions can be corrected with the means available to shift personnel, and issuing the associated fault notes.
- Ensuring the shift log is up to date and reviewing alarm records and event notices & reports.
