Welder Foreman

 

Prime Responsibilities and duties

  • Ability to weld all position of welding such as 3G, 4G, 6G & 6GR on SMAW/FCAW on both plate and pipe.
  • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
  • Welding spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc.;
  • Supervising and identifying any fault in operating the equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, then notifying the supervisors;
  • Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product;
  • Operating other accessory equipments and performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, and other types of welding arcs;
  • Examining finish products and spare parts and comparing them with samples to check whether the specifications are met;
  • Being in charge of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipments for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipments

The Person

  • Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.
  • 7 years minimum, in major Oil & Gas EPC projects, must possess vast Knowledge in the fabrication industry.
  • Safety certificate (general) and other safety certification will be an added advantage.
  • Responsible for the execution and application of the HSE procedures within his work area.
  • Should have good communication skills and report writing abilities.

Rigging Foreman

 

Purpose / Role
Responsible to the Rigging Superintendent for the leadership and organization of the rigging and moving loads function on the site/installation to fully execute the requirements of the rigging and moving loads support service safely and effectively Key aims and objectives.

Prime Responsibilities and duties

  • Accountable for promoting Safety.
  • Plan & control work activities ensuring that a safe system of work is in place and followed during all lifting operations
  • Implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the rigging work scope is completed efficiently, in compliance with LOLER and to a high standard of safety.
  • Review and approve all lift plans developed by the site/installation rigging and moving loads function .
  • Complete all work scopes in accordance with applicable workpack / jobcard instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches.
  • Ensure job cards are completed and accurate progress reported
  • Ensure time writing for the rigging and moving loads function is accurate and completed on time.

The Person

  • 5-8 years' experience in rigging in Oil & Gas / Fabrication environment.
  • Previous Offshore Rigger experience is essential
  • Level 3 Rigging Assessment or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Good level of verbal and written communication in English.

Scaffolding Foreman

 

Personnel reporting directly to this position

Purpose

  • The scaffolding foreman is a working foreman
  • Make sure the JSA,S and toolbox talks have been done correctly and are in place
  • Make sure the scaffolders are working safely and to the right standards and procedures

Key aims and objectives

  • Safety of all personnel
  • Lead  scaffold  team  to erect  dismantle modify  all types  of scaffolding

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • Make sure the work face is kept clean and tidy
  • Look with supervisor where scaffold needs erecting decide what materials will be needed arrange for forklift to bring materials from scaffold yard

Other Duties

  • Make sure all his team are wearing the correct ppe

Reports

  • Reports any issues he has to supervisor / superintendent

The Person

  • 5+ years' experience

Pipe Fitter

 

Qualification

  • Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.

Prime Responsibilities

  • Trade Test Certification. 1&2 labour & productivity or Engineering background.
  • Years of Experience. 4years and above.
  • Good safety practices i.e.  Understanding of HSE.
  • Ability to read and interprete isometric drawings, P & IDS.
  • Ability to understand and interpret simple and complex pipe fabrication drawing
  • Conversant with abbreviations, signs & codes.
  • Ability to identify fittings & materials.
  • Marking out and layout of drawings.
  • Good understanding of piping spools orientation, elevations, co-ordinates & piping copping.
  • Ability to take measurements, do conversions, plates & piping calculations.
  • Bending of Isometric directions, preparation of plates & piping length of bevelled.
  • Use of grinding machine & burning set.
  • Must understand tools and equipment management.
  • Must have good attitude and behaviour.
  • Ability to use all fabrication /Fitting equipment and instrument
  • Awareness of safety rules and standard of the industry.

Experience

  • 5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.
  • Must have worked on a Pipe erection project.
  • Working experience on an EPC project will be an additional advantage

Welding Supervisor

Rigging Supervisor

 

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

· Knowledge of trade terminology (i.e. lifting equipment, lifting accessories, slings, shackles, wires, ropes, chains, cables, nets etc.).
· The incumbent will make sure that gears for a lifting is conveyed to work site; and reporting of any defective rigging gear to Supervisor.
· Knowledge of types and layout of drawings such as structural, layout, plant, equipment detail drawings etc.
· Knowledge of abbreviations and drafting symbols such as lines, piping and fitting symbols, and control symbols commonly used.
· Have the ability to recognize types of lifting equipment (i.e. wire rope hoists, beam clamps, beam trolleys, plate clamps, sheave blocks, winches etc.).
· Have the ability to recognize types of lifting accessories (i.e. slings, shackles, wires, ropes, chains, cables, nets etc.).
· Have knowledge and ability to determine if lifting equipment and lifting accessories are safe to use.
· Have the ability to read and interpret, prepare and sign safety documents (i.e. PTW, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), Lifting Risk Assessment (TRA) etc.).
· Have the ability to store and assemble lifting equipment and lifting accessories in a safe location
· Ability to report effectively to his superior/higher authority of any case of defective gears.

Scaffold Supervisor

 

Purpose

  • Manage and coordinate the erection / dismantling / modification of all types of scaffolding to bsen12811-1 standard
  • Be conversant with traditional tube and fitting and system scaffolding
  • Show Forman scaffolder the task and make sure he has his jsa and toolbox talk in place

Key aims and objectives

  • Meet with supervisors from other trades to discuss where scaffolds need erecting
  • Arrange for the correct materials to be brought to the work face to complete the task
  • Safety of all personel

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • Make sure the correct use of harnesses and correct working at height procedure sg410 are being applied
  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly manor
  • Identify stop and immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions

The Person

  • 10+ years' experience
  • Have an affinity to work at heights
  • Be able to prepare jsa,and toolboxtalks

Structural Fitter - 1

 

Qualification

  • Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.

Prime Responsibilities

  • 5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.
  • Trade Test Certification. 1&2 labour & productivity or Engineering background.
  • Good safety practices i.e.  Understanding of HSE.
  • Conversant with abbreviations, signs & codes.
  • Ability to identify fittings & materials.
  • Ability to understand and interpret simple and complex structural fabrication drawing.
  • Ability to use all fabrication /Fitting equipment and instrument
  • Must understand tools and equipment management.

Experience

  • 5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.
  • Must have worked on a structural fitting   project.
  • Working experience on an EPC project will be an additional advantage

Coating Foreman

 

Purpose
To be a team player in the corrosion protection treatment process of Fabricated Structural Steel Structures and Associated items.

Key aims and objectives

  • To apply your work skills in a manner which enables the Coating Department to deliver defect free product, which conforms to customer supplied specifications and Project working procedures.
  • To assist the department in achieving this objective at the first attempt, within the time allowed and at each subsequent attempt.

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • The following will be expected of you while you are in the employ of Nigerdock PLC FZE
  • To take responsibility for the satisfactory execution of all work instructions issued to the workers in your team.
  • To issue these instructions clearly and to ensure they are well understood.
  • To ensure all work is executed according to the requirements of project and/or Nigerdock supplied working instructions.
  • To ensure that you have read and fully understand the contents of the relevant working procedures, enabling you to ensure the desired  level of quality is attained .
  • To ensure that you and the workers under you wear the correct level of PPE and that they work in a safe environment, utilizing correctly maintained equipment and tools.
  • To pre- plan your teams work and assist the individuals in planning the execution of their instructed tasks.
  • To ensure that your workers carry out tasks in an efficient manner, with all necessary consumables on hand.
  • To work with your team and to be able to delegate tasks with authority and in a clear manner.
  • To report all faulty equipment and take the necessary action in either fixing it or making sure that the item gets replaced if it is not repairable.
  • To follow up on the progress and completion of  tasks delegated to members of your team.
  • You will always assume full responsibility for all work under your control.
  • To ensure and if necessary teach your team to work as a competent unit, always taking into account the safety of others working adjacent to your work area.
  • To ensure that each individual executes work tasks in accordance with the requirements of the stipulated working procedure.
  • To always ensure a JSA has been conducted for the proposed work and that all actions stated ate obeyed.
  • To always conduct a job specific toolbox talk with your team, identifying the work hazards prior to entering the work area.
  • To set an example to those working below you.

When not performing your primary function as a Foreman, you are expected to take part in any other activities associated with the functioning of the department.

Coating Superintendent

 

Purpose

  • Maintenance of Equipment and Facilities;
  • Supervision of all Paint Shop and Construction site coating activities Ongoing training of department personnel;
  • Full responsibility for passive fire protection scope of work;
  • Planning and execution of daily coating activities. 

Key aims and objectives

  • To be a dedicated, responsible, pro-active and Flexible Team Player as part of a progressive unit
  • Ensure ND QMS and project Quality objectives are achieved;
  • Ensure good planning and execution of all activities;
  • To share your knowledge and experience with the Coating Department staff compliment, by carrying out training as part of the Department's continuous improvement plan in its quest to become a world class applicator

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • To assist the Coating Manager and Senior Coating Superintendent in the execution of all daily activities and responsibilities assigned to you (Planning, Production, Training and Maintenance), as demanded by the daily project work scope, with frequently changing priorities;=
  • Full responsibility for the successful execution of Passive Fire Proofing applications;
  • Assist in creating and instituting new initiatives which can benefit the progression of the department. 

Painter

 

Purpose

  • All inspection activities on all projects and completion of all related documentation, reports etc.
  • To be a team player in the corrosion protection treatment process of fabricated structural steel structures and associated items.

Key aims and objectives

· To apply your work skills in a manner which enables the Coating Department to deliver defect free product, which conforms to customer supplied specifications and Project working procedures.
· To assist the department in achieving this objective at the first attempt, within the time allowed and at each subsequent attempt.


Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • To carry out instructions from your superiors in a  safe manner at all times.
  • Assuming responsibility for the item you are painting through to the delivery stage.
  • To apply paint in a manner and at the stipulated wet film thickness (WFT), adhering to project and/or Nigerdock working procedures, ensuring the desired quality in finished product is achieved.
  • Your rate of production will be in line with acceptable industry norms, utilizing correctly functioning and correctly set equipment.
  • As a specialist tradesman you will always be held fully responsible for the quality of your own work and you will inspect your own work for conformance.
  • To always ensure your equipment is cleaned properly and to report faulty equipment immediately to your supervisor.
  • To ensure that you are aware of the hazards pertaining to the tasks you are performing and ensuring that you always wear suitable PPE and use suitable equipment.
  •  To act in a responsible manner and plan your working day according to instructions given to you by your superiors, ensuring that in a reasonable time allocation, you collect all PPE and equipment necessary to perform your tasks prior to you moving to the work site.
  • To inform your superiors immediately if you are not capable of carrying out specific tasks due to poor health or lack of knowledge.
  • When not performing your primary function as a spray painter, you are expected to take part in any other activities associated with the functioning of the department including housekeeping activities.
  • To conduct yourself in a manner that satisfies the purpose of your employment at Nigerdock.
Other Duties
When not performing your primary function as a Spray Painter, you are expected to take part in any other activities associated with the functioning of the department including but not limited to brush painting and housekeeping activities.

Reports
To assist the Lead Inspector in the completion of comprehensive weekly QA/QC progress and associated documentation with input information gathered from daily activities.

Grit Blaster

 

Purpose
To be a team player in the corrosion protection treatment process of Fabricated Structural Steel Structures and Associated items.

Key aims and objectives

  • To apply your work skills in a manner which enables the Coating Department to deliver defect free product, which conforms to customer supplied specifications and Project working procedures.
  • To assist the department in achieving this objective at the first attempt, within the time allowed and at each subsequent attempt.

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

  • The following will be expected of you while you are in the employ of Nigerdock PLC FZE
  • To carry out instructions from your superiors in a  safe manner at all times.
  • Assuming responsibility for the item you are painting through to the delivery stage.
  • To carry out grit blasting activities in a manner which achieves the desired blast profiles and blast cleanliness and which adheres to the requirements project and/or Nigerdock working procedures, ensuring the desired quality in finished product is achieved.
  • Your rate of production will be in line with established industry norms, using suitable equipment which is set correctly.
  • As a specialist tradesman you will always be held fully responsible for the quality of your own work and you will check your own work for conformance to requirements.
  • To always ensure your equipment is maintained properly and to report faulty equipment immediately to your supervisor.
  • To ensure that you are aware of the hazards pertaining to the tasks you are performing and ensuring that you always wear suitable PPE and use suitable equipment.
  • To act in a responsible manner and plan your working day according to instructions given to you by your superiors, ensuring that in a reasonable time allocation, you collect all PPE and equipment necessary to perform your tasks prior to you moving to the work site.
  • To inform your superiors immediately if you are not capable of carrying out specific tasks due to poor health or lack of knowledge.
  • You may from time to time be expected to carry out duties not associated with your normal scope of work.

Paintshop Production Assistant

 

Purpose
To be a team player in the corrosion protection treatment process of fabricated structural steel structures and associated items.

Key aims and objectives

  • To apply your work skills in a manner which enables the Coating Department to deliver defect free products, which conforms to customers, supplied specifications and Project working procedures.
  • To assist the department in achieving this objective at the first attempt, within the time allowed and at each subsequent attempt.
Prime Responsibilities and Duties

The following will be expected of you while in the employ of Nigerdock Plc FZE.

  • To carry out instructions from your superiors in a safe manner at all times.
  • Assuming responsibilities of completing all tasks assigned to you in a safe manner and in accordance with the relevant project and/or Nigerdock supplied working procedures.
  • To carry out any required task relating to the delivery of Blasted and/or Painted items, including but not limited to washing, cleaning, loading of grit/pot operator duties, stripe coating, housekeeping, equipment maintenance etc.
  • Your daily rate of production will be satisfactory and in line with acceptable industry norms.
  • As part of the production team you will always be held fully responsible for the quality of your own work and you will inspect your own work for conformance.
  • To always ensure the equipment you use is cleaned properly and to report faulty equipment immediately  to your superiors.
  • To ensure that you are aware of the hazards pertaining to the tasks you are performing and ensuring that you always wear suitable PPE and use suitable equipment and consumables.
  • To act in a responsible manner and plan your working day according to instructions given to you by your superiors, ensuring that in a reasonable time allocation, you collect all PPE and equipment necessary to perform your tasks prior to you moving to the work site.
  • To inform your superiors immediately if you are not capable of carrying out specific tasks due to poor health or lack of knowledge.
  • You are expected to be prepared to learn all the trades in the department, including but not limited to Blasting, Spray Painting, paint mixing, quality control etc.
  • You may from time to time be expected to carry out duties not associated with your normal scope of work.
  • To conduct yourself in a manner that satisfies the purpose of your employment at Nigerdock.

You will be evaluated periodically according to the following criteria;

The above mentioned criteria might change from time to time as further criteria are identified which may have a positive effect on the management and quality of the processes in the department

When not performing your primary function as a Production Assistant, you are expected to take part in any other activities associated with the functioning of the department.

Welder - Shipyard

 

Job Description (but not limited to)

·         Shall be able to deposit a sound weld which will be inspected by certified welding inspector and tested for its conformity.
·         Knowledge about various welding consumables and its maintenance.
·         Up to date knowledge of welding safety and equipment safety.
·         Ability to read and understand welding procedures, specifications etc.
·         Reading of drawings and instructions, layout and fabrication of systems as request.
·         Ability to work on Carbon Steel, Arc, Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, special alloy and Aluminum etc.
·         Ability to carry out SMAW, TIG, MIG, Gas, etc welding in all positions on Pipelines, Vessels structures and equipment.
·         Ability to carry out Soldering and Brazing works.
·         Being able to qualify for the all welding procedures and standards.
·         Understand and apply the plant safety standards and maintenance procedures while performing the work.
·         In addition to his normal jobs, he should assist and participate in other maintenance activities.
·         Will be subject to internal training on safety, quality improvement tools to participate in Nigerdock continuous improvement.
·         Understands and apply safety standards and maintenance procedures while performing the work.

Educational Qualification

·         Fluent knowledge of English language (speak, read, and write).
·         Graduate certification from High School.
·         Craft Certificate from a recognized institution as welder trade (ITI certificate).
·         Holds weld certificate on welding procedures in GAS, ARC, and MIG & TIG welding to relevant ASME, BS and API codes.

Work Experience
·         Minimum eight years work experience as a Welder.
·         Ability to perform work independently work normally performed by this craft.
·         Welders shall require monitoring by contractor QA/QC program to qualify and to re qualify for welding procedures required to perform work.

Pipe Fitter Foreman

 

Prime Responsibilities and Duties

·         Reading and interpretation of schematic drawings of pipe systems, isometric sketches, combination drawings, construction drawings and isometric view drawings.
·         Arrangement and performing pressure testing as specified on the drawings and/or in the pressure test instructions after welding.
·         Execution of dimension control on pipe systems and checking if all accessories and fittings in the pipe system are mounted.
·         Knowledge of using hoisting tooling and flushing unit knowledge of pipe system specifications, technical and safety standards is required
·         Capable of using equipment and tools for Pipe fitting, as well as for steel construction in general.
·         Responsible for the execution and application of the HSE procedures within his work area.

Welding Superintendent

 

Purpose

  • Manages and coordinate the deployment and activities of welding personnel and equipment within an assigned project or area of work
  • Ensure all work activities are undertaken in compliance with HSEQ manual, Safe Work Practises, Project Specifications, Weld Procedure Specifications and relevant Codes and Standards
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery in accordance with Project Schedules

Key Aims 

  • Safety of all personnel
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with HSEQ manual, Project Specifications and all relevant procedures.
  • Ensure welding equipment is available and ready in accordance with project plans and schedules.
  • Ensure all welders have the appropriate training, competency assessments and welding qualifications for the work to be undertaken.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all welding and associated activities carried out within assigned work area.
  • Identify manpower and equipment requirements for the assigned work.
  • Allocate welding resources and equipment to work areas.
  • Advise the Welding Engineer on welders' abilities.
  • Conduct surveillance monitoring of welding electrodes to be utilised in accordance with approved Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Ensure correct Weld Identifications are marked up on completed welds.
  • Ensure completed welds are of satisfactory appearance/cleanliness and suitable for Visual Inspections/Non Destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Ensure Daily Welding Records are raised on a daily basis for each welder and passed to the Welding Inspector.
  • Request final visual inspections in accordance with Project Specifications.
  • Monitor productivity, repair rates and schedule performance and be pro-active in investigating the reasons for poor performance and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ensure all welding equipment is maintained in good working order.
  • Ensure all equipment being used is functioning properly and has the required certification and calibrations in place.
  • Ensure plant and equipment is made available for scheduled inspection and maintenance.
  • Liaise with the Welding Engineer for setting up and conducting Weld Procedure Qualification Tests and Welder Qualification Tests.
  • Arrange equipment and personnel to carry out weld procedure qualifications.
  • Liaise with the Training Manager on Welder Training requirements.
  • Report non-conformances associated with welding operations.
  • Conduct random inspections of welding electrode type and size in use during production.
  • Conduct random inspections of weld preparations and set-ups prior to welding.
  • Ensure all welding personnel are fully aware of the importance of internal cleanliness (debris) in fabricated and erected pipework.
  • Ensure all welders are conversant with the Welding Procedure Specifications to which they are working.
  • Conduct random monitoring of welding controls as detailed in the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) during the welding cycle.
  • Notify the Welding Inspectors on completion of welded joints.
  • Allocation of work fronts to Welding Supervisors.
  • Ensure all welding personnel within the work area understand and operate to the required quality procedures efficiently and effectively.

Purpose

Co-ordinate with line Managers the on-boarding/day 1 readiness of new hires i.e Appointment of buddies, System Access, Work tools etc.
Ensure all employee ER issues are dealt in a timely manner
Support HCBP with monthly reports/presentations on Resourcing,
Movements, Trainings, Staff confirmations etc.
First point of call for all HC BP related administrative queries
Ensure the timeliness of all HC reports to relevant stakeholders
Maintain and update business unit organograms
Management of the intern programme/GT rotation i.e. ensuring temp staff numbers are generated on time and liaise with SSC/IT for their on-boarding
