Chief Software Architect Jan 21st 2013, 13:56 Location: Abuja Description: We are one of Nigeria's leading providers of Information Technology and Communication Solutions, with its core focus on information technology (IT) solutions and deployment. Summary: Chief Software Architect is a member of the Company's leadership team having primary responsibility to ensure the Company's software solution is well engineered, operable, maintainable, delivered on schedule, aligns to product strategy/vision and provides the anticipated business value. This role requires active and effective collaboration with CTO, customer solution/implementation teams, operations personnel, product managers, customers, prospects, strategic partners and investors in achieving the Company's business and technical objectives. Responsibilities: Lead, direct and grow the software development team in the design of the Company's software In coordination with leadership team develop and implement software engineering hiring and professional development plans; In concert with CTO, define and manage the Company's product roadmap, translating business requirements and strategy into plans for the software engineering team. Partner directly with product managers, sales, marketing, customer solution architects and QA to develop, design, implement and maintain the Company's software solutions Work effectively in cross-functional/cross departmental team. Participate in customer and investor meetings and due diligence processes as required Identify and/or evaluate emerging technologies that would enhance or compete with the Company's products Oversee the production of operational documentation and white papers Qualifications and Requirements: Advanced Degree (MSc or PhD or equivalent) in computer science/ engineering preferred; 7+ years of experience in data architecture, SQL and Nosql solutions, with understanding of the behavioural differences between major databases (e.g., Oracle, Postgres and MySQL) as well as familiarity with NoSQL and NewSQL solutions such as MongoDB, CouchDB, Membase, Redis, Riak, Cassandra, H-Base & BDB; Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead large, distributed technical teams as well as actively interface with senior leadership team; Experience in driving and realizing complex / full end to end technical solutions and how decision/design impacts architecture delivery; Ability to work comfortably in a venture-capital-backed startup environment and be highly adaptive and flexible Ability to operate at highly varying levels of abstraction including business strategy, product strategy, technical design and implementation Candidate must have headed a software development project.  Must have been a team leader on a routine life-cycle managed implementation.  Must be willing to work in Abuja If you are qualified for this position, Send your CV to 8cb5@jbng.me or click http://www.jobberman.com/job/186021/chief-software-architect-in-abuja/ to apply
