Structural Design Engineer Jan 10th 2013, 10:49 Location: Lagos Description: An Architectural, Engineering, Procurement and Project Management company ranked amongst the top service provider companies in Nigeria for the Oil and Gas sector and a key player in design, Detailed Engineering, Project Management, FEED, Construction Operations & Maintenance and EPC projects for onshore and offshore is seeking to engage the services of a dynamic, intelligent and knowledgeable individuals to fill this position. Job Summary: The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for the design of offshore living quarters, Marine Buildings, Commercial and Residential Buildings with lots of experience working in a steel fabrication factory.  Responsibilities: Planning, budgeting, organizing and co-coordinating all structural engineering activities Performing global structure analysis and detail design of steel, aluminum, structures for offshore living quarters, modules marine building, helidecks, commercial & residential buildings. Preparing weight control reports and material take offs Preparing structural basis of design, design calculations, detail drawings, structural design specifications, construction and installation work procedures and cost estimations Submitting structural analysis and calculations in proper manner for client approval and dealing with comments from regulatory and classification authorities Developing specifications, procurement documents and provide procurement support for structural items Providing site support during construction Interfacing with clients and co-coordinating with other disciplines Attending meetings to update management on all structural activities Proficient  with office based software ( MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) Qualifications and Requirements: The ideal applicant will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering with oil and gas, shipbuilding or heavy engineering background.  Candidates must be certified (COREN, Member of Institute of Structural Engineers) with a minimum of 5 years in a reputable consulting / construction environment, exposed to offshore platforms / modules and living quarters.  Candidates should be experienced in conceptual design and detailed design with particular experience with hand calculations.  Candidate to be equally competent in steel and reinforced concrete designs. Knowledge of Structural Analysis software (e.g. StaadPro/SACS) will be required together with good knowledge of offshore/on shore buildings and offshore/onshore international codes, rules and standards.
