Nutrition Coordinator

Job Description
The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for leading the nutrition team and providing technical support and capacity building of the team to successfully plan, implement and monitor International Medical Corps nutrition program activities in Nigeria.
The Coordinator must have the ability to organize and support all aspects of the nutrition program including liaising with the Ministry of Health, other international and national agencies, and donors.
The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the nutrition programs in the country are implemented in line with the ministry's guidelines and international humanitarian standards and donor guidelines.
Additionally, the Nutrition Coordinator will work closely with the Country Director to provide input into proposal development and country level strategies as required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess the training needs of nutrition staff; develop a training program to meet these needs; conduct nutrition training for project nutrition staff and MOH counterparts implementing nutrition programs, focusing on all aspects of community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), IYCF, etc
  • Establish and strengthening nutrition monitoring activities and train health staff (IMC, MOH, and local NGO) in case detection and referral mechanisms
  • Conduct and train health staff on surveys including SMART surveys, causal analysis, and other assessments of nutritional status of target groups.
  • Ensure that the implementation of the nutrition programs conform to internationally accepted standards and country guidelines
  • Monitor program impact and ensure that program data is valid and relevant, and used to inform program development.
  • Provide guidance to staff on the integration of a nutrition component into other sectors as appropriate
  • Provide technical review of proposals and project reports prior to submission to donors
  • Actively represent International Medical Corps in nutrition sector discussions and activities, serve as an International Medical Corps nutrition sector resource person, and display technical and organizational leadership in sectoral activity commensurate with the role as a primary resource person for nutrition on the International Medical Corps program.
  • Coordinate International Medical Corps's nutrition response and recovery activities across a wide range of actors within International Medical Corps, donors, host governments, UN and NGO partners to ensure consistency of programming.
  • Actively participate and represent IMC in country-based nutrition sectoral/Cluster meetings.
  • Assist in development of, or provide technical review for, emergency response proposals to be submitted by International Medical Corps to ensure that proposed activities and programs align with best practice in the nutrition sector. As appropriate, apply new developments in the nutrition sector to International Medical Corps programming.
  • If appropriate during the response, provide technical support to assist in the development of disaster risk reduction programs that mitigate the effects of disasters on populations and communities; identify disaster mitigation measures, where appropriate, that could be linked to disaster response activities.
Qualifications and Skills
  • B.Sc in Nutrition required with 8-10 years of field experience or Masters Degree required in Nutrition or other relevant field, 6-8 years of international experience in nutrition response, including experience in emergency response and recovery following natural disaster.
  • Experience in assessment, program design and evaluation and technical training and support.
  • An up-to date understanding of nutrition, risk reduction, emergency response, and sustainable development concepts.
  • Knowledge in designing and implementing appropriate and effective holistic nutrition programs including ensuring that beneficiaries have access to health care, WASH, and FS programming.
  • Familiarity with design and programming processes of different donors and a general familiarity with recent initiatives such as the Global Health Initiative and Feed the Future.
  • Proficient analytical skills that demonstrate an understanding of the current concepts, priorities, and issues in program monitoring, data collection and evaluation.
  • Skills in technical proposal writing, designing and implementing nutrition programs
  • Ability to exhibit tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness in dealing with high level officials from donor agencies, international organizations, and other foreign and domestic government officials and partners.
  • Must have excellent English written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments within International Medical Corps, donors, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.

Finance Administrative Director

Job Description
The Finance Director directly oversees all financial, accounting and administrative activities including human resources administration and all finance administrative activities and reporting for International Medical Corps' anticipated program in Nigeria.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Accounting and Finance Management


  • Ensure compliance with the organization and donor regulations and procedures; establishing finance and supporting function policies, systems and procedures, and directing or performing their development, documentation, and implementation
  • Supervise and ensure that the day-to-day accounting operations and financial management functions in field offices are performed in accordance with internal policy and procedures
  • Review and account for procurement transactions to ensure adequate supporting documentation, accuracy of amounts and control over payments
  • Suggests formats for financial reporting to aid financial statement users to better understand the contents of the reports for decision-making and strategic planning purposes
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate records of financial transactions of the country office (main and field offices) in order to monitor financial status of all project activities
  • Manages the finance department of the country office to meet the financial reporting requirements of in-country management and Headquarters; This function includes ensuring that all financial reports are submitted on or before the deadlines set and contain relevant information for all the users of the financial reports
  • Directs the preparation of all financial reports for external purposes in respect to accounting, legal and contractual requirements
  • Maintains the organizations system of accounts ensuring all accounting data are updated, reconciled and fully supported
  • Oversee training of finance staff and provide technical support to country program and logistics
  • Supervise or prepare budgets
  • Present & facilitate review of actual to budget expenditures with Country Director and Site Managers
  • Provide recommendations for budget realignments as required
  • Make frequent visits to field offices provide training to finance staff on internal procedures and requirements.
2.) Human Resources Management
  • Supervise the human resource and administrative functions in field offices to ensure their smooth and effective operations
  • Supervise the oversight of staff personnel files inclusive of contracts, leave records and other paperwork required for employment in local context
  • Ensure compliance to local labor laws including contracts, compensation packages and working hours
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection of qualified program field staff, recommend promotions, disciplinary action and termination of staff in consultation with supervisors
  • Collaborate with security officer/CD to maintain security of staff in the field locations
  • Make frequent site visits to facilities to ensure that appropriate care and training are being conducted and to offer support to field staff
  • Maintain open lines of communications with all field staff.
3.) Training/ Capacity Building
  • Determine training needs for finance and human resources staff.
  • Train senior national staff to increase their responsibilities in order to build capacity and ensure sustainability of programs.
  • Advocate and plan for professional development for expat and national staff.
4.) Working Relationships
  • Maintain frequent communication with Regional Finance Coordinator to ensure finance activities and objectives are communicated.
  • Work with Country Director and Logistics staff to ensure the coordination of programs are within budgeted targets.
  • Attend coordination meetings which are relevant to country activities.
  • Interface with national government and relevant agencies to ensure compliance with varying government regulations.
5.) Representation
  • Serve as the principal liaison with donors on matters related to the program to ensure financial and programmatic accountability to donors
  • Establish and update contact details of potential donors in-country
  • Participate in donor meetings and communicate relevant information to HQ
  • Work with key donor Staff to develop and maintain optimum financial and programmatic relationship
  • Ensure maximum visibility of the agency amongst the NGO community
  • Lead the production of reports and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of information provided, as well ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organizations Code of Conduct, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to internal and external actors.
6.) Security
  • Ensures financial considerations are planned for and implemented as required at each security level
  • Ensures application and compliance of security protocols and policies
  • Sends copies of key internal documents to HQ for back-up
  • Facilitates emergency and non-emergency security expenditures.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of a college or university degree in Accounting or Business Administration; preferably a Master's degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years managerial experience in a non-profit organization or equivalent experience, training and education.
  • Extensive experience in the administrative and financial management of overseas programs at the management level.

Job Description
The Country Director is directly responsible for the overall strategic planning, human resources, program design and implementation, program support operations, finance, administration, monitoring and evaluation supervision, expansion/development, and required reporting for International Medical Corps' programming in Nigeria.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.) Program Management


  • Develop country specific strategic plan and proposals for programs that will successfully transition our relief programs to early recovery and transition to more long-term development programs.
  • Work closely with the MoH to identify a strategy for the strengthening the health care system
  • Represent the organization and liaise with local and national authorities, UN, NGO, and donor agencies to promote the organizations programs, facilitate successful coordination of activities and ensure transparency and accountability to all stakeholders
  • Participate in writing and reviewing proposal applications
  • Provide technical inputs and assistance to programs with particular reference to financial management and reporting systems
  • Participate in UN health, Nutrition and WASH Cluster coordination to ensure programs playing a vital role and to secure required support from the cluster coordination mechanism and the UN funding instruments such as CERF, CHF etc.
2.) Compliance
  • Oversee program operations and reporting, ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures, Donor regulations and local laws
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on all program activities and progress to the central office and Donors
  • Oversee the preparation of annual work plans and budgets
  • Report regularly to headquarters, providing timely updates of all situational and project developments
  • Create and maintain an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) of beneficiaries, by clearly defining the standards of behavior that are expected of IMC staff, as described in the organizations Code of Conduct; Ensure that mechanisms supporting these standards and principles are promoted, disseminated, and integrated into personnel requirements, and that the organizations SEA complaints procedures are in place and functioning properly.
3.) Program Development
  • Primarily responsible for expanding country portfolio.
  • Pursue new sources of donor funding and maintain adequate donor funding levels to sustain identified program and support activities.
  • Drafting and editing proposals.
  • Remaining aware of donor funding intentions.
4.) Human Resources
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection of qualified program field staff, recommend promotions, disciplinary action and termination of staff in consultation with supervisors.
  • Collaborate with security staff to maintain security of staff in the field locations.
  • Make frequent site visits to facilities to ensure that appropriate care and training are being conducted and to offer support to field staff.

  • Serve as the principal liaison with Donors on matters related to the program to ensure financial and programmatic accountability to Donors
  • Establish and update contact details of potential Donors in-country
  • Participate in Donor meetings and communicate relevant information to HQ
  • Work with key Donor Staff to develop and maintain optimum financial and programmatic relationship
  • Ensure maximum visibility of the Agency amongst the NGO community
  • Lead the production of reports and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of information provided, as well ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organizations Code of Conduct, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to internal and external actors
8.) Security
  • The Country Director is ultimately responsible for the security management of staff, operations, assets and directs country-specific response to security threats and incidents, up to and including management of evacuation
  • Monitor security level and consult with the Director of Global Security to upgrade or downgrade level
  • Responsible for ensuring that Incident Report Forms are completed and submitted to HQ Security in a timely manner (within 12 hours)
  • Responsible for ensuring all staff are given a security briefing, and required documentation upon entry into the country
  • Ensure application and compliance of security protocols and policies
  • In cooperation with the Security Coordinator, monitor the security situation and inform the HQ Security Office through weekly security reports
  • Ensure that country security guidelines, SOP's and policies are updated twice annually (July 31 and January 31) including contingency planning for evacuation, in accordance with agency protocols and respected by all staff
  • Ensure adequate security funding is budgeted
  • Nominate security focal points at each operational site in country
  • Collect and document local security related information (social & political context, external players, presence/reasons for conflict, military developments, political economy of armed groups), and communicates to the Director of Global Security at HQ DC office
  • Establish a reliable communication chain to disperse important information, whereby once the CD communicates a message, it is systematically passed on from one person to the next, with each person knowing who they are responsible for informing. (phone tree)
  • Collaborate with local agencies to aid with security management.
Qualifications and Skills
  • 7-10 yrs of project management experience (management, planning, staff development and training skills) in emergency / development programs.
  • Significant experience in development programs, mainly in the health field (Health policy, health reforms).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and working experience with USAID, World Bank, EU, DfID and other donors;
  • Minimum financial management including preparing and managing budgets, banking activities, contracts and negotiations.
  • Experience in developing and managing procurement and logistical procedures and policies.
  • Skills and knowledge in program sustainability and capacity building, public-private partnerships and project monitoring and evaluation (both quantitative and qualitative methods).
  • Strong writing, presentation and program development skills;
  • Extensive fundraising and representational experience.
  • Proven capabilities in leadership required.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and organization skills.

Job Description
A.) To provide business stakeholders and committees with:

  • A point of contact in the country with respect to Group Internal Audit (GIA)
  • GIA's view on significant risks within the business(es) and an assessment as to whether these risks are being adequately managed and escalated if appropriate

B.) To assist the Head of Audit in:

  • Preparing Country Audit Needs/ Risk Assessments and detailed audit plans;
  • An assessment on the appropriateness of the audit plans
  • An anticipatory approach to risk assessment to GIA by highlighting issues through good stakeholder communication in order to improve audit planning;

C.) To carry out reviews and assist in establishing an effective Country Audit function that:

  • Provides independent assurance to relevant stakeholders on the state of the Country control environment and control
  • Assists in carrying out Audits and reviews in other countries as required by the Country/  Regional Head of Audit from time to time.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Risk Assessment :

  • Ensure early identification and escalation of risks, issues, trends and developments to relevant stakeholders. Be prepared to raise issues/concerns outside the normal audit process;
  • Adopt an anticipatory approach to risk assessment through stakeholder communication and monitoring of external environment to improve audit planning;
  • Delivery of the agreed audit plan for the country / region as assigned; understanding the key audit issues arising and escalating any significant audit findings that remain unresolved;
  • Attend Business Operational Risk Committee (BORC) meetings on a regular basis;

  • Carry out audits to ensure that the Internal Audit's mandate and business goals are met and professional standards are maintained at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Institute of Internal Auditors or equivalent finance qualification (ACCA, CPA, ACA etc.) with Internal Audit experience preferred.
  • 10 -15 years relevant experience - Internal Audit roles, in a bank or related area will be an advantage.
  • Team player able to work effectively with diverse client groups
  • Good communicator with an ability to gain the respect from peers, management and business stakeholders;
  • Confident and courageous to raise concerns and issues with Country Head of Internal Audit.
