| Technical Support Engineer Jan 21st 2013, 15:01 Location: Lagos Description: A world class IT, telecommunication and consultancy company is seeking to recruit a Technical Support Engineer to join their team.
Responsibilities: - The main duty of a Technical Support engineer is to ensure that all the systems of a company are functioning smoothly.
- He or she has to ensure that every employee of the company is is able to get the particular data; he or she wants to.
- They have to make sure that the IT department of the company is running smoothly.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
- Configure and setup Cisco Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital business applications
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking
- Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements: - Minimum of B.Sc./HND in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or its equivalent
- At least 3 – 5 years experience in System Engineering or Administration
- Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required
- Current CCNA, CCNP, Cisco Unified Communication Manager configuration and infrastructure a plus
- Windows Server 2003 & 2008; Exchange and/or SQL experience a plus
- Ability to handle numerous systems at one go, thus must have some hardware knowledge, so that he/she could detect the problem in a system, if there is any.
- Must be between the ages of 25 - 30 years
- Must possess any of the following CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCP, CDBA
- Additional certifications required by management
- Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support
- Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
- Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business environment
- Availability in response to needs of the customer for installation, maintenance and equipment malfunctions
- Training is provided
- Good spoken & written communication skills and customer/client facing.
